Enzyme Nutritional Therapy
At Optimal Health Center, our doctors are Digestive Health Specialists with Loomis Institute. To better understand what that means, you must first understand what enzymes are and how they function in our bodies.
Think of enzymes as the builders at a construction site. Vitamins, minerals, protein, fats, and carbohydrates are the building materials. Without the proper materials, the house would never be built. Modern food processing has removed enzymes from our food and left our bodies void of workers to get the nutrients we need into our body. What you eat enters the digestive tract, which is like a long straw that goes through your body, not into it. Enzymes are the workers that take what we need across the gut barrier and allows us to use the food we eat.
Bodies that are lacking in adequate enzymes develop stress. The Loomis system is designed to find and treat the organ systems in your body that are under stress.
Think of your body's systems like 40+ glasses of water. Each one must be full to function at optimal health without stress. If the glasses are empty then they are set up for a disease process to occur. Enzyme Therapy allows us to identify which systems are under stress (the cup is low) and then give you the proper nutrition specific to that system to help your body restore homeostasis (fill that cup) and remove the stress.
Exam and 24-hour Urinalysis
Homeostatic Challenge Exam:
A 24-hour urinalysis is a key component of the enzyme testing process. This UA gives the doctors a 24-hour window into your body and can tell them how hard it is working behind the scenes to maintain homeostasis. Typically organ system stress is already evident in the urine well before you will see issues in the blood work. We hope to help you improve your health and alleviate symptoms before your blood work ever shows any abnormalities!
Each person is unique in how they respond to stress. Enzyme Therapy allows us to exam you individually and creates the best plan to help you remove stress and revitalize your health.
